  • About SKI-HI

We are the SKI-HI Institute - a group of dedicated individuals whose goal is to enhance the lives of children with sensory impairments, their families, and service providers.

Our work, begun in 1972, focuses on developing new programs, materials, and training for children who are deafblind, deaf or hard of hearing, blind or visually impaired, and those who work with them.

We are a part of the Center for Persons with Disabilities at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.

  • Regional Conferences

Aim High: Elevating Our Early Intervention Practices

The Western Region Early Intervention Conference will be held just outside of Denver, Colorado, September 11-13, 2019. This conference is designed to support professionals working with, and families of, children birth to five years old who are deaf/hard of hearing, blind/visually impaired, or deafblind. WREIC has been in place for over 30 years, making it one of the longest ongoing early intervention conferences in the country. The conference is jointly planned and funded by programs in CO, NM, UT, WY, ID, NV, AZ with these states taking turns hosting it every two years.

This conference will have a pre-conference day with two wonderful training options (one with a Harvard neuroscientist on brain-based visual impairment) and two subsequent days of concurrent sessions on current research, medical updates and best practice strategies for these young children. Early Bird registration ends May 31.
